Ingredients
Scale
For the Breaded Ravioli
- 1 16 ounce package of frozen ravioli
- 1 cup milk
- 1 egg, beaten into the milk
- 1 teaspoon coarse ground garlic salt
- 1 cup seasoned Italian bread crumbs
- 1 cup Panko bread crumbs
- Spray olive oil
For the Tomato Dipping Sauce
- 1 16 ounce can of tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
- Black pepper, to taste
- 1 teaspoon sweet basil
- 1/8 teaspoon ground oregano
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- Parmesan cheese, for topping
- Chopped parsley, for topping
Instructions
- Prepare the egg wash: In a small shallow dish, combine the milk and beaten egg, mixing well to blend thoroughly.
- Mix the bread crumbs: In another shallow dish, combine the Italian seasoned bread crumbs and Panko bread crumbs. Stir in 1 teaspoon of coarse ground garlic salt evenly throughout the bread crumbs.
- Bread the ravioli: Remove frozen ravioli from the package. Dip two or three ravioli at a time into the milk and egg mixture. Then coat them thoroughly with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing crumbs onto the surface using a spoon to ensure they stick well.
- Place ravioli in air fryer: Arrange the breaded ravioli in a single layer inside the air fryer basket. Lightly spray the tops with olive oil spray to promote crisping.
- Air fry the ravioli: Set the air fryer temperature to 350°F (175°C) and cook for 9 minutes total. At around 5 minutes, carefully flip the ravioli over and lightly spray again with olive oil spray to ensure even crispness.
- Make the tomato dipping sauce: While the ravioli cooks, combine the tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt, black pepper to taste, sweet basil, ground oregano, and brown sugar in a saucepan. Heat gently to warm and blend flavors.
- Serve: Plate the toasted ravioli and top with freshly grated Parmesan cheese and chopped parsley. Serve alongside the warm tomato dipping sauce for dipping.
Notes
- Using frozen ravioli straight from the freezer helps keep their shape during breading and air frying.
- Light spraying with olive oil encourages a crispy texture without deep frying.
- Turning the ravioli halfway through cooking ensures even browning on both sides.
- Adjust seasoning in the tomato sauce to your preference for spiciness or sweetness.
- Can be served as an appetizer or snack at parties or family dinners.
