Description
This Bacon Caprese Sandwich combines the savory crispiness of bacon with fresh tomato, creamy mozzarella, fragrant basil, and a touch of mayo for a perfect balance of flavors in a simple, satisfying handheld meal.
Ingredients
Bacon Caprese Sandwich Ingredients
- Bacon, to taste (about 3-4 slices recommended)
- Tomato, sliced, to taste (2-3 medium slices)
- Fresh mozzarella, sliced, to taste (about 2-3 oz)
- Fresh basil leaves, about 2 leaves
- Mayonnaise, to taste (1-2 tbsp)
- Salt & pepper, to taste
- Bread slices, 2 (preferably ciabatta or baguette)
Instructions
- Cook the Bacon: Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until it reaches your desired level of crispiness, typically about 8-10 minutes, flipping occasionally to ensure even cooking. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Prepare Tomato and Mozzarella: While the bacon cooks, slice fresh tomato and fresh mozzarella into moderately thin, even slices suitable for sandwich layering.
- Assemble the Sandwich: Take two slices of bread and spread mayonnaise evenly on one or both slices. Layer the tomato slices, followed by mozzarella slices, then fresh basil leaves. Next, add the crispy bacon on top and season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Close the sandwich with the other slice of bread.
Notes
- Use high-quality fresh mozzarella for the best taste.
- Ciabatta or a rustic baguette works best for holding the sandwich ingredients together.
- For extra flavor, consider lightly toasting the bread before assembling.
- You can substitute mayo with pesto for a different twist.
- Adjust bacon quantity based on your preference for crispiness and flavor.
