Ingredients
Scale
Beef Mixture
- 2 lbs ground beef
- 1 large onion, diced
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Toppings and Mix-ins
- 1 cup dill pickle chips, chopped
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 cups shredded iceberg lettuce
Egg Mixture
- 4 large eggs
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons mustard
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to get it ready for baking the casserole.
- Cook Beef and Onion: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and diced onion. Cook until the beef is browned and the onion is translucent. Drain any excess fat from the pan.
- Season Beef: Stir in Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional 2 minutes to let flavors meld, then remove from heat.
- Assemble Beef Layer: Spread the cooked beef mixture evenly in a 9×13 inch baking dish. Sprinkle the chopped dill pickle chips evenly over the beef.
- Prepare Egg Mixture: In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, mayonnaise, mustard, ketchup, onion powder, and paprika until well combined.
- Add Egg Mixture: Pour the egg mixture evenly over the beef and pickles in the baking dish, covering the surface completely.
- Top with Cheese: Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly on top of the egg mixture layer.
- Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes until the cheese is fully melted and bubbly.
- Add Lettuce and Serve: Remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Just before serving, sprinkle the shredded iceberg lettuce over the top for freshness and crunch.
Notes
- Drain excess fat from beef to avoid greasy casserole.
- For extra tang, add more pickles or a dash of pickle juice to the egg mixture.
- You can substitute cheddar cheese with American or mozzarella for a different flavor.
- The casserole can be made ahead of time and refrigerated before baking; just add lettuce fresh when serving.
- Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper to your preference before baking.
