Description

This Big Mac Casserole transforms the classic McDonald’s Big Mac burger into a comforting, easy-to-make casserole. Featuring seasoned ground beef, tangy pickles, and a creamy, cheesy egg mixture baked to perfection, it’s layered with shredded lettuce for that authentic fresh crunch. It’s perfect for a family dinner or meal prep and captures all the iconic flavors in a hassle-free, hearty dish.

Ingredients

Scale

Beef Mixture

  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Toppings and Mix-ins

  • 1 cup dill pickle chips, chopped
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups shredded iceberg lettuce

Egg Mixture

  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons mustard
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to get it ready for baking the casserole.
  2. Cook Beef and Onion: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and diced onion. Cook until the beef is browned and the onion is translucent. Drain any excess fat from the pan.
  3. Season Beef: Stir in Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional 2 minutes to let flavors meld, then remove from heat.
  4. Assemble Beef Layer: Spread the cooked beef mixture evenly in a 9×13 inch baking dish. Sprinkle the chopped dill pickle chips evenly over the beef.
  5. Prepare Egg Mixture: In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, mayonnaise, mustard, ketchup, onion powder, and paprika until well combined.
  6. Add Egg Mixture: Pour the egg mixture evenly over the beef and pickles in the baking dish, covering the surface completely.
  7. Top with Cheese: Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly on top of the egg mixture layer.
  8. Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes until the cheese is fully melted and bubbly.
  9. Add Lettuce and Serve: Remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Just before serving, sprinkle the shredded iceberg lettuce over the top for freshness and crunch.

Notes

  • Drain excess fat from beef to avoid greasy casserole.
  • For extra tang, add more pickles or a dash of pickle juice to the egg mixture.
  • You can substitute cheddar cheese with American or mozzarella for a different flavor.
  • The casserole can be made ahead of time and refrigerated before baking; just add lettuce fresh when serving.
  • Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper to your preference before baking.
