Description

This Bloody Mary recipe offers a richly flavored, savory cocktail perfect for brunch or any casual gathering. Combining V8 vegetable juice with Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco, celery salt, and beef bouillon gives the mix a deep and complex taste. Warmed gently on the stovetop to dissolve the bouillon for enhanced flavor before being poured over vodka, this classic cocktail can be garnished to your liking for a personalized touch.

Ingredients

Scale

Bloody Mary Mix

  • 24 ounces V8 Low Sodium 100% Vegetable Juice (or V8 Bloody Mary Mix)
  • 4 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons Tabasco sauce
  • 2 teaspoons celery salt
  • ½ teaspoon seasoning salt (We used Lawry’s)
  • 3 beef bouillon cubes

Alcohol

  • ½ cup vodka (to taste, Titos recommended)

Instructions

  1. Mix ingredients: Combine all ingredients except the vodka in a pot and heat over medium-low heat on the stovetop.
  2. Dissolve bouillon cubes: Stir occasionally until the beef bouillon cubes have fully dissolved, ensuring the flavors blend well.
  3. Cool the mixture: Remove from heat and set aside to cool to a drinkable temperature.
  4. Prepare glasses: Add a shot of vodka to each serving glass.
  5. Pour and stir: Pour the cooled V8 mixture over the vodka, then stir thoroughly to combine.
  6. Garnish and serve: Add your choice of garnishes such as celery stalks, lemon wedges, olives, or pickles, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use low sodium V8 juice to control saltiness in the cocktail.
  • If you prefer a spicier drink, adjust Tabasco sauce according to your taste.
  • The bouillon cubes add a rich umami flavor, but can be substituted with beef stock or omitted for a vegetarian option.
  • Chill the mixture before combining with vodka if you prefer a cold cocktail without watering it down with ice.
  • Customize garnishes to suit your preference for added visual appeal and flavor.
