Description

This Cheeseburger Crescent Ring is a fun and delicious twist on a classic cheeseburger, wrapped in flaky crescent roll dough and baked to golden perfection. Perfect for parties or a casual family dinner, it’s loaded with seasoned ground beef, cheddar cheese, and tangy pickles, all encased in a crispy, buttery crescent crust.

Ingredients

Scale

Beef Mixture

  • 1 ½ lbs. extra lean ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 tablespoon Montreal steak spice
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • â…“ cup barbeque sauce

Dough

  • 16 oz refrigerated crescent rolls (2 – 8 oz cans)

Toppings and Garnish

  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 16 dill pickle chips
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  • ½ teaspoon garlic salt
  • ½ tablespoon sesame seeds
  • Ketchup and mustard for dipping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Cook Beef: Preheat oven to 350℉. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion for 5-8 minutes until beef is no longer pink. Drain excess fat. Stir in Montreal steak spice, garlic powder, and barbeque sauce until well combined, then set aside.
  2. Arrange Crescent Rolls: Place a bowl with a 6-7 inch opening in the center of a round pizza stone or baking pan. Arrange the crescent rolls around the bowl, with the wide ends touching the bowl and the narrow ends pointing outward to form a ring.
  3. Thin the Dough Base: Remove the bowl and press or roll the wide ends of the overlapping crescent rolls toward the center to reduce the size of the hole to about 4-5 inches. This helps prevent the base from being undercooked by making the dough thinner.
  4. Add Beef Mixture: Evenly spoon the prepared ground beef mixture over the dough base, spreading it out carefully within the ring.
  5. Sprinkle Cheese: Generously sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the meat layer.
  6. Fold Dough Over Filling: Lift the narrow ends of the crescent rolls and fold them over the filling, tucking the ends under the dough in the middle of the ring. Leave small spaces between each folded piece.
  7. Insert Pickle Chips: Place one dill pickle chip into each space left between the folded dough pieces for added flavor and decorative appeal.
  8. Brush with Butter and Add Seeds: In a small bowl, combine melted butter with garlic salt. Brush this mixture evenly onto the crescent dough ring and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  9. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the crescent dough ring is golden brown and cooked through.
  10. Serve: Remove from the oven and let cool briefly. Cut into 16 slices and serve immediately with ketchup and mustard on the side for dipping, if desired.

Notes

  • For a juicier filling, you can add a splash of Worcestershire sauce to the beef mixture.
  • Use refrigerated crescent rolls for best texture and ease of preparation.
  • Make sure to drain excess fat after cooking the ground beef to avoid soggy dough.
  • Feel free to substitute barbecue sauce with ketchup or your favorite burger sauce.
  • This recipe can be doubled for larger groups, using two baking pans.
