Ingredients
Scale
Filling
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup pickles, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Assembly
- 12-16 egg roll wrappers
Cooking
- Vegetable oil, for frying (about 1-2 inches deep in pan)
Instructions
- Cook the Filling: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it up with a spatula as it cooks. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking for an additional 3-4 minutes until the onion is soft and translucent. Drain any excess fat from the skillet.
- Add Seasonings and Cheese: Stir in the chopped pickles, ketchup, mustard, salt, and pepper. Remove the skillet from the heat and let the filling cool slightly. Once cooled, stir in the shredded cheddar cheese.
- Assemble the Egg Rolls: Lay an egg roll wrapper on a flat surface with one corner pointing toward you forming a diamond shape. Spoon 2-3 tablespoons of the cheeseburger filling onto the center. Fold the bottom corner over the filling, then fold in the sides to enclose. Roll tightly away from you and seal the top corner with water. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling.
- Fry the Egg Rolls: Heat 1-2 inches of vegetable oil in a large, deep skillet over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Carefully add a few egg rolls at a time and fry for 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy. Remove using a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Serve: Serve the cheeseburger egg rolls hot alongside your favorite dipping sauces such as ketchup, mustard, or ranch dressing.
Notes
- Make sure the filling is cooled before adding cheese to prevent it from melting too much and making the wrappers soggy.
- Do not overcrowd the pan when frying to maintain oil temperature and ensure even cooking.
- Use water to seal egg roll wrappers to avoid them opening while frying.
- Leftover egg rolls can be reheated in an oven or air fryer to keep them crispy.
