Description

A deliciously rich and flavorful Cheesy Garlic Bread recipe featuring a combination of melted mozzarella, provolone, Colby Jack cheeses, butter, garlic, parmesan, and herbs baked to golden perfection on a crusty French bread loaf.

Ingredients

Scale

Bread

  • 1 loaf French Bread (sliced in half lengthwise)

Butter Mixture

  • 1/4 cup butter (softened)
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese

Cheese Mixtures

  • 4 ounces mozzarella and provolone shredded mixture
  • 4 ounces Colby Jack and mozzarella shredded mixture

Garnish

  • Chopped fresh parsley
  • Dried oregano

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for baking the garlic bread.
  2. Prepare Butter: Place 1/4 cup of butter in a microwave-safe bowl and soften it by microwaving it briefly.
  3. Mix Ingredients: To the softened butter, add minced garlic, salt, and grated parmesan cheese. Stir well to combine all ingredients thoroughly.
  4. Spread Butter Mixture: Using a butter knife or spatula, evenly spread the garlic butter mixture over the entire cut side of each bread half.
  5. Add Herbs: Sprinkle a pinch of chopped fresh parsley and dried oregano evenly over the buttered bread for added flavor and aroma.
  6. Add Cheese Layers: Divide the mozzarella and provolone shredded cheese evenly between the two bread halves and spread out uniformly.
  7. Top with Additional Cheese: Evenly distribute the Colby Jack and mozzarella shredded mixture on top of the previous cheese layer for a rich, melty topping.
  8. Prepare for Baking: Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
  9. Bake: Place the prepared bread halves on the lined baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the edges of the bread are golden brown.
  10. Serve: Remove from oven, let cool slightly, then slice and serve warm for a delicious appetizer or side.

Notes

  • Use fresh garlic for the best flavor; you can adjust the amount based on your garlic preference.
  • For a crispier crust, broil the bread for 1-2 minutes after baking, but watch closely to prevent burning.
  • Feel free to substitute any of the cheese blends with your favorite melty cheeses like cheddar or fontina.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container and reheat in the oven to maintain crispiness.
