Description

Delicious and elegant chocolate covered strawberries featuring ripe, fresh berries dipped in rich semi-sweet chocolate with optional decorative toppings. This no-bake treat is perfect for celebrations, romantic occasions, or a delightful snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Strawberries

  • 1 pound fresh strawberries (at room temperature)

Chocolate Coating

  • 8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate (chopped or chocolate chips)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vegetable oil

Optional Decoration

  • 4 ounces white or milk chocolate (chopped, for decorating)
  • Toppings such as sprinkles, crushed nuts, or other decorations (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to prepare for placing the dipped strawberries.
  2. Prepare strawberries: Gently rinse the strawberries under cool water and pat them completely dry with paper towels to ensure no moisture remains, which can cause the chocolate to seize or slip off.
  3. Melt semi-sweet chocolate: Combine the semi-sweet chocolate and vegetable oil in a microwave-safe bowl and heat in 20-30 second intervals, stirring well between each, until smooth. Alternatively, use a double boiler by simmering water and placing a heatproof bowl with the chocolate and oil on top, stirring constantly until melted. Remove from heat carefully to avoid steam or water contamination.
  4. Dip strawberries: Hold each strawberry by the stem or leaves and dip into the melted chocolate, covering about three quarters of the berry. Allow excess chocolate to drip off before placing on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Decorate (optional): While the chocolate is still wet, add sprinkles, crushed nuts, or other toppings. For chocolate drizzle decorations, let strawberries set completely, then melt white or milk chocolate and pipe stripes over the set chocolate using a spoon or piping bag.
  6. Set the chocolate: Allow the dipped strawberries to sit at room temperature until the chocolate hardens fully.
  7. Serve or store: Serve the chocolate covered strawberries immediately or store them in a single layer in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one day.

Notes

  • Make sure strawberries are completely dry before dipping to prevent chocolate seizing.
  • Use vegetable oil to create a smooth, glossy finish on the chocolate.
  • Decorations are optional but add a festive touch to the strawberries.
  • Store strawberries in the refrigerator but consume within 24 hours for best freshness.
  • Use room temperature strawberries to prevent condensation from forming on the chocolate.
