Description

Delight in these easy-to-make Chocolate Covered Strawberries, a perfect treat for any occasion. Fresh strawberries are dipped in smooth, melted chocolate and optionally coated with desiccated coconut, crushed nuts, or colorful sprinkles for a beautiful and delicious dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

Chocolate Coating

  • 1 cup (175g) chocolate chips
  • 2 tsp vegetable oil (or grapeseed oil, canola, peanut, or other neutral oil)

Fruit

  • 500g / 1 lb fresh strawberries (~25 strawberries, depending on size)

Optional Coatings

  • Desiccated coconut
  • Crushed nuts
  • Sprinkles
  • Other coating of choice

Instructions

  1. Prepare Tray: Line a tray with baking paper (parchment paper) to set the dipped strawberries on and prevent sticking.
  2. Melt Chocolate: Place chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high in 30-second bursts, stirring between each interval until the chocolate is completely smooth.
  3. Grip the Strawberries: Hold each strawberry by its stem or gather the leaves around the stem for a firm grip to dip easily.
  4. Dip Strawberries: Dip each strawberry into the melted chocolate, rolling it to coat most of the surface evenly, then place it onto the lined tray.
  5. Repeat Dipping: Continue dipping the remaining strawberries in chocolate and placing them on the tray.
  6. Add Optional Coatings: If desired, immediately dip the chocolate-covered strawberries into desiccated coconut, crushed nuts, sprinkles, or any other coating to add texture and flavor, then place back on the tray.
  7. Chill: Refrigerate the dipped strawberries for at least 30 minutes or until the chocolate coating is firm and set.
  8. Serve: Enjoy the strawberries within 12 hours of preparation to maintain freshness and optimal texture.

Notes

  • Use good quality chocolate chips to ensure smooth melting and a glossy finish.
  • Adding the vegetable oil to the chocolate helps create a smoother, shinier coating.
  • Choose firm, ripe strawberries with fresh green leaves for the best grip and appearance.
  • Store the finished strawberries in the refrigerator and consume within 12 hours for best quality.
