Ingredients
Scale
Pastry
- 1 can (8 oz) crescent roll dough
Filling
- 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Egg Wash (optional)
- 1 egg
Glaze
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1-2 tsp milk
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat for easy cleanup.
- Prepare the Filling: In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix thoroughly until the filling is smooth and creamy.
- Separate Dough Triangles: Open the crescent roll dough can and gently separate the dough into 8 triangles along the perforations.
- Add Filling: Spoon about 1 to 2 tablespoons of the cream cheese filling onto the wide end of each dough triangle.
- Roll the Danishes: Starting from the wide end with the filling, carefully roll each triangle toward the point, sealing the edges slightly so filling does not leak out during baking.
- Apply Egg Wash (Optional): Beat the egg in a small bowl and brush it lightly over the tops of each rolled danish to give them a nice golden brown finish after baking.
- Bake: Place the danishes on the prepared baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for approximately 12 minutes or until golden brown and puffed.
- Prepare and Drizzle Glaze: While the danishes bake, mix 1/4 cup powdered sugar, 1-2 teaspoons milk, and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract in a small bowl until smooth. After removing the danishes from the oven and allowing them to cool slightly, drizzle the glaze over them for a sweet finishing touch.
Notes
- You can substitute crescent roll dough with puff pastry for a flakier texture.
- Adjust the amount of powdered sugar in the glaze to your desired sweetness consistency.
- For a fruit twist, add a spoonful of jam along with the cream cheese filling inside each danish.
- Make sure the cream cheese is fully softened for easier mixing and smoother filling.
- Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for up to 4 days.
