Ingredients
Scale
Onion Rings
- 1 large sweet onion
Coating Mixture
- 1 cup almond flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
Egg Mixture
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
Instructions
- Prepare your stations: Set up three shallow dishes: one with the almond flour mixed with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper; one with a whisked mixture of eggs and heavy cream; and one with grated parmesan cheese.
- Preheat the cooking device: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) or your oven to 425°F (220°C). If using the oven, line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Coat the onion rings: Slice the onion into rings. First, dredge each ring in the almond flour mixture, ensuring full coverage. Then dip it into the egg and cream mixture, allowing excess to drip off. Finally, press each ring firmly into the parmesan cheese to coat completely.
- Cook the onion rings: Arrange the coated onion rings in a single layer either in the air fryer basket or on the lined baking sheet. Air fry for 8-10 minutes or bake for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through the baking time, until the rings are golden brown and crispy.
Notes
- Use a sweet onion such as Vidalia for the best flavor and juiciness.
- Make sure the coating is pressed firmly so it sticks well during cooking.
- Flip the onion rings halfway through baking to ensure even crispness.
- If air frying, avoid overcrowding to allow air circulation for maximum crispiness.
- This recipe is gluten-free, keto-friendly, and suitable for a low-carb diet.
