Description

A flavorful take on the classic steakburger with double beef patties, garlic-infused buttered buns, and melty American cheese, inspired by the iconic Steak and Shake Garlic Double Steakburger. Perfectly seasoned and toasted, this burger recipe delivers a juicy and savory experience in about 20 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Beef Patties

  • 1 lb ground beef (80% lean)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 slices American cheese

Buns and Spread

  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 1 tablespoon butter, softened
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat skillet or griddle: Preheat a griddle or large skillet over medium-high heat to achieve a perfect sear on the patties.
  2. Form patties: Divide the ground beef into 8 equal portions and shape each portion into thin patties to ensure quick and even cooking.
  3. Season patties: Season both sides of each patty with salt and black pepper to enhance flavor.
  4. Cook patties: Place the patties on the preheated griddle and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until thoroughly cooked and browned.
  5. Prepare garlic butter: While the patties cook, mix the softened butter with garlic powder to create a flavorful spread.
  6. Toast buns: Spread the garlic butter mixture onto the inside of the hamburger buns and toast them on the griddle until golden brown and fragrant.
  7. Assemble double burgers: On four of the cooked patties, place a slice of American cheese, then top each with another cooked patty to form double stacked steakburgers.
  8. Prepare buns: Spread mayonnaise on the bottom halves of the toasted buns and sprinkle garlic salt on top for added garlic flavor.
  9. Complete the burger: Place the assembled double steakburgers on the prepared buns and top with the remaining upper halves of the buns to finish.

Notes

  • For juicier burgers, avoid pressing down on patties while cooking.
  • Use 80% lean ground beef to ensure a good balance of flavor and fat content.
  • Make sure the burgers and buns are warm when assembling for the best taste and texture.
  • You can substitute American cheese with cheddar or your preferred melty cheese.
  • Adjust garlic powder and salt according to personal taste preferences.
