Description

These Ham & Cheese Filled Croissants are a quick and delicious snack or breakfast option made with refrigerated crescent roll dough, deli ham, and Swiss or cheddar cheese. Featuring a sweet and tangy honey mustard spread, these crescent-shaped treats bake to a golden, flaky perfection with an optional sesame seed topping for extra crunch.

Ingredients

Scale

Crescent Roll Dough

  • 1 can of refrigerated crescent roll dough (8 triangles)

Filling

  • 8 slices of deli ham
  • 8 slices of Swiss or cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon honey

Topping

  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the croissants.
  2. Prepare Dough: Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a clean surface, separating into 8 individual triangles.
  3. Make Honey Mustard: In a small bowl, combine the Dijon mustard and honey until well mixed to create a flavorful spread.
  4. Spread Mixture: Apply a thin layer of the honey mustard mixture evenly on each crescent dough triangle.
  5. Add Filling: Place one slice of deli ham and one slice of cheese on top of the honey mustard spread on each triangle.
  6. Roll Croissants: Starting from the wide end, roll each triangle towards the pointed end, shaping them into crescents.
  7. Arrange on Baking Sheet: Place the rolled croissants spaced evenly on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Apply Egg Wash: Brush the tops of each croissant with the beaten egg to promote a golden and glossy finish during baking.
  9. Add Seeds: Sprinkle sesame seeds on top of the croissants if you desire an extra crunch and nutty flavor.
  10. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the croissants turn golden brown and the cheese melts completely.
  11. Cool and Serve: Remove the croissants from the oven and let them cool slightly for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • You can substitute Swiss or cheddar cheese depending on your preference or dietary needs.
  • Sesame seeds are optional; you can use poppy seeds or leave them off entirely.
  • Allow croissants to cool slightly before serving to avoid burning from hot cheese filling.
  • Use a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to prevent sticking and for easy cleanup.
  • Try adding herbs like thyme or rosemary to the honey mustard mixture for extra flavor.
