Ingredients
Scale
Crescent Roll Dough
- 1 can of refrigerated crescent roll dough (8 triangles)
Filling
- 8 slices of deli ham
- 8 slices of Swiss or cheddar cheese
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon honey
Topping
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the croissants.
- Prepare Dough: Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a clean surface, separating into 8 individual triangles.
- Make Honey Mustard: In a small bowl, combine the Dijon mustard and honey until well mixed to create a flavorful spread.
- Spread Mixture: Apply a thin layer of the honey mustard mixture evenly on each crescent dough triangle.
- Add Filling: Place one slice of deli ham and one slice of cheese on top of the honey mustard spread on each triangle.
- Roll Croissants: Starting from the wide end, roll each triangle towards the pointed end, shaping them into crescents.
- Arrange on Baking Sheet: Place the rolled croissants spaced evenly on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Apply Egg Wash: Brush the tops of each croissant with the beaten egg to promote a golden and glossy finish during baking.
- Add Seeds: Sprinkle sesame seeds on top of the croissants if you desire an extra crunch and nutty flavor.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the croissants turn golden brown and the cheese melts completely.
- Cool and Serve: Remove the croissants from the oven and let them cool slightly for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- You can substitute Swiss or cheddar cheese depending on your preference or dietary needs.
- Sesame seeds are optional; you can use poppy seeds or leave them off entirely.
- Allow croissants to cool slightly before serving to avoid burning from hot cheese filling.
- Use a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to prevent sticking and for easy cleanup.
- Try adding herbs like thyme or rosemary to the honey mustard mixture for extra flavor.
