Description

These Ham & Cheese Filled Croissants are a delicious and easy-to-make snack or breakfast treat. Flaky crescent roll dough is layered with savory deli ham, melty Swiss or cheddar cheese, and a sweet and tangy honey mustard spread. Baked to golden perfection with a brushed egg wash and optional sesame seeds on top, these croissants are perfect for a quick bite or entertaining guests.

Ingredients

Scale

Crescent Rolls

  • 1 can of refrigerated crescent roll dough (8 triangles)

Filling

  • 8 slices of deli ham
  • 8 slices of Swiss or cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon honey

Finishing

  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure a perfectly baked croissant.
  2. Prepare Dough: Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a clean surface, separating it into 8 individual triangles.
  3. Make Honey Mustard Spread: In a small bowl, combine Dijon mustard and honey until well mixed to create a flavorful spread.
  4. Spread the Mixture: Lightly spread the honey mustard mixture over each crescent roll triangle for added flavor.
  5. Add Ham and Cheese: Place one slice of deli ham and one slice of Swiss or cheddar cheese on each triangle, ensuring even coverage.
  6. Roll Up Croissants: Starting at the wide end, roll each triangle towards the pointed end tightly to form the crescent shape.
  7. Arrange on Baking Sheet: Place the rolled croissants on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them apart.
  8. Apply Egg Wash: Brush the tops of the croissants with beaten egg to help them achieve a golden and shiny finish when baked.
  9. Add Sesame Seeds: Sprinkle sesame seeds on top of each croissant if desired, for added texture and flavor.
  10. Bake: Bake the croissants in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until they are golden brown and the cheese inside has melted completely.
  11. Cool and Serve: Remove the croissants from the oven and allow them to cool for a few minutes before serving to avoid burns and enhance flavor.

Notes

  • You can substitute Swiss cheese with cheddar or any preferred melting cheese.
  • Adding sesame seeds is optional but adds a nice crunch and flavor.
  • For a spicier twist, add a pinch of cayenne or paprika to the honey mustard spread.
  • The croissants are best served warm but can be reheated in an oven or toaster oven.
  • Ensure the dough is handled gently to keep it flaky and light after baking.
