These heart-shaped cinnamon rolls are a delightful treat perfect for a special breakfast or dessert. Soft, fluffy dough filled with sweet cinnamon and topped with a vanilla glaze, these rolls are sure to impress your loved ones.

Ingredients

Scale

Dough:

  • 1 package (1/4 oz) active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Filling:

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

Glaze:

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Dissolve yeast: In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk and let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Mix dough: Add sugar, melted butter, egg, flour, and salt. Mix until a dough forms, then knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  3. Rise: Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled.
  4. Prepare filling: In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon.
  5. Roll out dough: Roll out dough into a rectangle, spread softened butter, and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
  6. Shape rolls: Roll dough, slice into sections, and shape into hearts. Let rise, then bake.
  7. Make glaze: Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla to make the glaze. Drizzle over warm rolls.

Notes

  • You can add chopped pecans or raisins to the cinnamon filling if desired.
  • For a richer dough, substitute half the milk with heavy cream.
  • These freeze well—just reheat and glaze before serving.
