Ingredients
Scale
Steak Marinade
- 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- Zest and juice of 1 lemon
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh rosemary
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Rice and Garnish
- 2 cups cooked jasmine rice
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- Lemon wedges for serving
Instructions
- Prepare the Marinade: In a large bowl, combine olive oil, minced garlic, lemon zest and juice, fresh thyme, rosemary, dried oregano, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to create a flavorful marinade.
- Marinate the Steak: Add the thinly sliced flank steak to the marinade and toss thoroughly to coat all pieces evenly. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or up to 4 hours to allow flavors to penetrate the meat.
- Cook the Steak: Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat until hot. Place the marinated steak slices onto the pan, searing each side for 2 to 3 minutes until browned and cooked to your desired doneness. Avoid overcrowding for even cooking.
- Rest the Meat: Remove the steak from heat and let it rest for about 5 minutes. This helps the juices redistribute, ensuring tender and juicy meat.
- Prepare the Rice: While the steak rests, gently warm the cooked jasmine rice. Stir in the chopped fresh parsley for a burst of color and freshness.
- Serve: Divide the herby lemon garlic steak slices over the warm parsley rice. Garnish with additional fresh herbs and lemon wedges for an extra touch of brightness. Enjoy immediately.
Notes
- Flank steak can be substituted with skirt steak or sirloin depending on preference.
- For an extra burst of flavor, reserve a tablespoon of marinade before adding the raw meat and drizzle it over the finished dish.
- Serve alongside grilled vegetables or a light cucumber salad for a complete meal.
