Description

A flavorful and quick Herby Lemon Garlic Steak served over warm jasmine rice, infused with fresh herbs and citrus for a vibrant, gluten-free main course perfect for weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

Scale

Steak Marinade

  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • Zest and juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Rice and Garnish

  • 2 cups cooked jasmine rice
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • Lemon wedges for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Marinade: In a large bowl, combine olive oil, minced garlic, lemon zest and juice, fresh thyme, rosemary, dried oregano, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to create a flavorful marinade.
  2. Marinate the Steak: Add the thinly sliced flank steak to the marinade and toss thoroughly to coat all pieces evenly. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or up to 4 hours to allow flavors to penetrate the meat.
  3. Cook the Steak: Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat until hot. Place the marinated steak slices onto the pan, searing each side for 2 to 3 minutes until browned and cooked to your desired doneness. Avoid overcrowding for even cooking.
  4. Rest the Meat: Remove the steak from heat and let it rest for about 5 minutes. This helps the juices redistribute, ensuring tender and juicy meat.
  5. Prepare the Rice: While the steak rests, gently warm the cooked jasmine rice. Stir in the chopped fresh parsley for a burst of color and freshness.
  6. Serve: Divide the herby lemon garlic steak slices over the warm parsley rice. Garnish with additional fresh herbs and lemon wedges for an extra touch of brightness. Enjoy immediately.

Notes

  • Flank steak can be substituted with skirt steak or sirloin depending on preference.
  • For an extra burst of flavor, reserve a tablespoon of marinade before adding the raw meat and drizzle it over the finished dish.
  • Serve alongside grilled vegetables or a light cucumber salad for a complete meal.
