This Indulgent Italian Crescent Roll Sandwich Bake is a hearty, flavorful dish perfect for family meals or gatherings. Layers of flaky crescent roll dough encase a rich mix of savory deli meats, melty cheeses, tangy peppers, and aromatic Italian herbs, all baked to a golden perfection. The combination of ham, salami, provolone, and pepperoni with banana peppers and roasted red peppers makes every bite bursting with traditional Italian-inspired flavors.

Ingredients

Scale

Dough

  • 2 cans Crescent Rolls
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil

Meats

  • 8 ounces Sliced Ham
  • 4 ounces Sliced Salami
  • 4 ounces Sliced Pepperoni

Cheese

  • 8 ounces Sliced Provolone Cheese
  • 1/2 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese

Vegetables & Extras

  • 1 cup Banana Pepper Rings
  • 1 cup Roasted Red Peppers
  • 1/2 cup Olives
  • 1 cup Mushrooms (sautéed)

Seasoning

  • 1 tablespoon Italian Seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it is ready for baking your sandwich bake.
  2. Prepare Mushrooms: Sauté the mushrooms in a skillet over medium heat until they release their moisture and become tender. Set aside to cool.
  3. Layer Crescent Rolls: Unroll one can of crescent roll dough and press it into the bottom of a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, sealing the perforations to create a solid base.
  4. Add Meat and Cheese Layers: Layer the ham, salami, pepperoni, and provolone cheese evenly over the dough base in the baking dish.
  5. Add Vegetables and Seasoning: Evenly distribute the sautéed mushrooms, banana pepper rings, roasted red peppers, olives, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes over the meat and cheese layer.
  6. Top with Second Dough Layer: Unroll the second can of crescent roll dough and lay it over the fillings, pressing the edges to seal.
  7. Brush with Olive Oil and Sprinkle Parmesan: Brush the top layer of crescent dough with olive oil to enhance browning and sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese uniformly over the top.
  8. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes, or until the crescent roll crust is golden brown and fully cooked through.
  9. Cool and Serve: Allow the sandwich bake to cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing into 6 large slices. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • You can substitute turkey for the ham to lighten the dish.
  • Mozzarella or cheddar cheese can be used instead of provolone for different cheese profiles.
  • For a vegetarian version, omit all meats and increase the vegetable quantities.
  • Sautéing mushrooms beforehand prevents excess moisture in the bake.
  • Use fresh basil or oregano instead of Italian seasoning for a fresher herb flavor.
  • Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes based on your spice preference.
