Description
A juicy and flavorful Instant Pot Turkey Breast recipe seasoned with fresh herbs and cooked to perfection using pressure cooking for tender, succulent results in just 30 minutes.
Ingredients
Scale
Turkey
- 1 turkey breast (approximately 3-4 pounds)
Butter and Herbs
- 1 stick (½ cup) unsalted butter, softened
- 2 teaspoons fresh rosemary or 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
- 2 teaspoons fresh sage or 1 teaspoon dried sage
- 2 teaspoons fresh thyme or 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
Broth and Vegetables
- 2 cups turkey or chicken broth
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 3-4 stalks celery, chopped
Instructions
- Prepare the Turkey: Clean and wash the turkey breast thoroughly, then pat it dry using paper towels to remove any excess moisture.
- Butter the Turkey: Rub the softened butter evenly all over the surface of the turkey breast, ensuring it is fully coated for moisture and flavor.
- Mix Seasonings: In a small bowl, combine salt, black pepper, and the herbs (rosemary, sage, and thyme) either fresh or dried.
- Season the Turkey: Sprinkle the mixed seasonings evenly over the butter-coated turkey, pressing gently to adhere the spices to the surface.
- Add Broth to Instant Pot: Pour 2 cups of turkey or chicken broth into the Instant Pot and place the metal trivet inside to keep the turkey elevated above the liquid.
- Prepare Vegetables: Chop the onion and celery, then add them to the bottom of the pot around the trivet and broth for extra flavor.
- Place Turkey in Pot: Position the turkey breast side up on top of the trivet inside the Instant Pot.
- Pressure Cook: Seal the Instant Pot lid securely. Set the pressure cooker to Manual (High Pressure) setting and cook for 30 minutes.
- Natural Pressure Release: When the cooking cycle completes, allow the pressure to release naturally for safety and best texture.
- Open and Remove: Carefully open the pot lid once pressure is fully released and remove the cooked turkey breast from the pot.
- Rest and Serve: Place the turkey breast on a cutting board to rest before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Using fresh herbs can enhance flavor but dried herbs work well too.
- Allowing the turkey to rest after cooking helps retain juices and improves texture.
- You can save the broth and vegetables from the pot to make a flavorful gravy or soup base.
- Make sure to fully release pressure naturally to avoid toughening the meat.
