Description

This irresistibly easy crispy flatbread topped with creamy brie, tart cranberries, and toasted walnuts offers a perfect balance of flavors and textures. Drizzled with spicy hot honey, it’s a delightful appetizer or snack that combines richness with a hint of sweetness and heat, making it a crowd-pleaser for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Base

  • 1 piece Flatbread (or pita or naan for variation)

Toppings

  • 8 ounces Brie Cheese (Creamy and rich; can substitute with cream cheese)
  • 1 cup Cranberries (or dried cherries or figs)
  • 1/2 cup Toasted Walnuts (or pecans or almonds)

Drizzle

  • 2 tablespoons Hot Honey (Mix regular honey with red pepper flakes for a kick)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the flatbread: Place the flatbread on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone mat to ensure easy cleanup and an even crisp.
  2. Add brie cheese: Slice the brie into thin pieces or peel off the rind and spread the creamy cheese evenly over the surface of the flatbread, leaving a small border around the edges.
  3. Top with cranberries and walnuts: Scatter the cranberries evenly over the brie, then sprinkle the toasted walnuts on top for added crunch and flavor contrast.
  4. Bake for crispness: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and bake the flatbread for about 8 minutes or until the edges are golden and crisp and the brie has melted and started to bubble.
  5. Drizzle with hot honey: Remove the flatbread from the oven and immediately drizzle generously with hot honey made by mixing regular honey with red pepper flakes to add a sweet and spicy kick.
  6. Serve: Let the flatbread cool slightly, then slice into 4 pieces and serve warm for the best flavor experience.

Notes

  • You can substitute the flatbread with pita or naan breads for different textures and flavors.
  • If brie is not available, cream cheese can be used as a milder alternative.
  • Dried cherries or figs work well as a substitute for cranberries if you prefer a slightly different fruity note.
  • To toast walnuts, dry roast them in a pan over medium heat for 3-5 minutes until fragrant and golden, stirring frequently to prevent burning.
  • To make hot honey, combine honey with a small pinch of red pepper flakes and let it infuse for at least 10 minutes for optimal flavor.
  • This flatbread is best enjoyed fresh out of the oven while the cheese is melty and the flatbread is crisp.
