Description

Delicious Jalapeno Popper Pinwheels combine spicy jalapeños, creamy cheese, crispy bacon, and a hint of sweetness in soft flour tortillas rolled into bite-sized appetizers. Perfect for parties, game day, or a flavorful snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Filling

  • 12 ounces cream cheese (room temperature, about 1½ bricks)
  • 2 jalapeños, seeded and minced
  • 2 cups freshly grated pepper jack cheese (or cheddar cheese, or a blend)
  • 4 strips cooked bacon, crumbled
  • ½ teaspoon chili seasoning (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • â…›-¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

Tortillas

  • 2 (10-inch) flour tortillas

Instructions

  1. Prepare the filling: In a medium mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, minced jalapeños, grated pepper jack cheese, crumbled cooked bacon, chili seasoning, brown sugar, and cayenne pepper if using. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.
  2. Spread the filling: Lay the flour tortillas flat on a clean work surface. Spoon half of the cream cheese mixture onto each tortilla and spread it evenly to cover the entire surface up to the edges.
  3. Roll and chill: Carefully roll each tortilla up tightly, similar to a jellyroll. Wrap each rolled tortilla in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 3 hours, or up to 48 hours, to allow flavors to meld and firm up for slicing.
  4. Slice the pinwheels: When ready to serve, unwrap the rolls, trim off the uneven ends, and cut into ½-inch to ¾-inch thick slices to create the pinwheels.
  5. Serve: Arrange the pinwheels on a serving platter and serve with your choice of dipping sauces such as Ranch dip, tomato salsa, queso dip, or enjoy them plain as a flavorful appetizer.

Notes

  • For less heat, remove all seeds from the jalapeños and use milder cheese.
  • Prepare the pinwheels up to 48 hours in advance and keep refrigerated until serving.
  • Substitute bacon with cooked sausage or omit for a vegetarian version.
  • Try whole wheat or spinach tortillas for a different flavor profile.
  • Adjust cayenne pepper to your desired spice level or omit entirely.
