Ingredients
Scale
Ingredients
- 1 stick (1/2 cup) unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 yellow cake mix (approx. 15.25 oz box)
- 1 bag (about 11.5 oz) semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan or a smaller pan if you prefer thicker bars.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, melt the butter and whisk in the eggs until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
- Add Dry Ingredients: Stir in the yellow cake mix until fully incorporated. The batter will be thick and dense.
- Add Chocolate Chips: Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips evenly throughout the batter.
- Press Into Pan: Transfer the cookie dough mixture into the greased baking pan, pressing and spreading it out evenly to fill the pan.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes if using a 9×13 inch pan. For smaller pans, bake 25-28 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool and Serve: Let the bars cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares. Serve and enjoy your easy homemade cookie bars!
Notes
- Greasing the pan well prevents sticking and makes removal easier.
- Use a toothpick to test doneness in the center of the bars.
- For thicker bars, use a smaller baking pan and increase baking time accordingly.
- Store leftover bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
- These bars can also be frozen for up to one month; thaw before serving.
