A refreshing Mediterranean Tuna Salad featuring tuna in olive oil mixed with cherry tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, Kalamata olives, and crumbled feta cheese, all tossed in a flavorful red wine vinegar and oregano dressing. Perfect as a light meal or appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale

Salad Ingredients

  • 1 can (5 oz) tuna in olive oil, drained
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1/2 cup cucumber, diced
  • 1/4 cup red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup Kalamata olives, pitted and sliced
  • 1/4 cup feta cheese, crumbled
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

Dressing Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt

Instructions

  1. Drain Tuna: Drain the can of tuna in olive oil thoroughly and set it aside for later use.
  2. Prepare Tomatoes: Cut the cherry tomatoes in half and place them in a medium-sized mixing bowl.
  3. Dice Cucumber: Cut the cucumber into small diced pieces and add them to the mixing bowl with the tomatoes.
  4. Slice Red Onion: Thinly slice the red onion and add to the bowl with the other vegetables.
  5. Prepare Olives: Pit and slice the Kalamata olives, then add them to the bowl with the other ingredients.
  6. Add Feta Cheese: Crumble the feta cheese into the bowl over the salad ingredients.
  7. Add Tuna: Place the drained tuna on top of the salad ingredients in the bowl.
  8. Make Dressing: In a separate small bowl, whisk together olive oil, red wine vinegar, dried oregano, garlic powder, black pepper, and sea salt until well combined.
  9. Dress the Salad: Pour the dressing evenly over the ingredients in the large mixing bowl.
  10. Toss Salad: Gently toss all the salad ingredients with a spoon to mix evenly and coat with dressing.
  11. Add Parsley: Sprinkle the chopped fresh parsley over the salad for a fresh and vibrant finish.
  12. Serve or Chill: Serve the salad immediately or refrigerate for about 30 minutes for enhanced flavor before serving.

Notes

  • This salad is best served fresh but can be chilled for up to 1 hour to meld the flavors.
  • Use good quality tuna packed in olive oil for richer flavor.
  • Kalamata olives add a distinctive briny taste; substitute with black olives if preferred.
  • Feta cheese can be omitted or replaced with a vegan cheese alternative for dietary preferences.
  • Adjust salt content depending on the saltiness of feta and olives.
