Description

Delightful Nutella Puff Pastries featuring flaky, buttery puff pastry filled with rich hazelnut chocolate spread. These easy-to-make treats are perfect for dessert, snacks, or special occasions, offering a warm, golden, and glossy finish dusted with confectioners’ sugar.

Ingredients

Scale

Puff Pastry

  • 1 package prepared puff pastry sheets (usually 2 sheets)

Filling and Topping

  • ¾ cup Nutella hazelnut spread
  • 2 large eggs (1 for egg wash, 1 for filling and wash)
  • 3 tablespoons confectioners’ sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it reaches the ideal temperature for puff pastry baking.
  2. Prepare Puff Pastry: Unroll the puff pastry sheets onto a lightly floured surface to prevent sticking, then cut each sheet into 4 equal squares, making 8 squares in total.
  3. Add Nutella Filling: Place about 1-2 tablespoons of Nutella in the center of each pastry square, spreading slightly but keeping it mainly in the middle to avoid spilling during baking.
  4. Apply Egg Wash on Edges: Lightly beat one egg and use a pastry brush to coat the edges of each pastry square; this will help seal the folded edges firmly.
  5. Fold Pastries: Fold each square diagonally into a triangle or fold into a rectangle (your choice), pressing the edges firmly to seal the filling inside, preventing leaks during baking.
  6. Arrange on Baking Sheet: Place the sealed pastries onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to avoid sticking and ensure even cooking.
  7. Brush with Egg Wash: Beat the second egg and brush the tops of the pastries to give them a glossy, golden finish once baked.
  8. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes until the puff pastry is puffed, golden-brown, and flaky.
  9. Cool and Dust: Remove the pastries from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes on a wire rack; then dust evenly with confectioners’ sugar for added sweetness and presentation.
  10. Serve: Serve warm or at room temperature and enjoy these indulgent Nutella-filled puff pastries.

Notes

  • You can freeze unbaked puff pastries for later baking; just thaw before baking and proceed as usual.
  • Make sure to seal the edges well to prevent Nutella from leaking out during baking.
  • If you prefer, you can sprinkle some chopped hazelnuts on top before baking for added crunch.
  • Use cold puff pastry sheets to handle them easily and ensure proper puffing in the oven.
