Ingredients
Scale
Fruit
- 1 package Strawberries
Donut & Glaze
- 2 Dozen Donut Holes
- 2 cups Powdered Sugar
- 5 or 6 drops Vanilla Coffee Creamer
- 3 or 4 drops Blue Food Coloring Gel
Frosting
- 1 16 ounces Cream Cheese Frosting
Toppings
- 1/2 cup White Chocolate, melted
- Red, White, and Blue Sprinkle Mix
Instructions
- Rinse Strawberries: Place the strawberries in a colander and rinse thoroughly under cool running water. Lay them on paper towels to drain and dry completely.
- Make Blue Glaze: In a medium bowl, combine the powdered sugar, vanilla coffee creamer, and blue food coloring gel. Stir well until the glaze is smooth and a bright blue color, adding more food coloring if necessary.
- Dip Donut Holes: Drop each donut hole into the blue glaze, coating completely, then place them on a parchment paper-lined cookie sheet to set.
- Chill & Repeat Glazing: Refrigerate the dipped donut holes until firm. If needed, dip them a second time for a more vivid blue glaze, then return to the refrigerator to set.
- Prepare Frosting & Strawberries: Transfer the cream cheese frosting to a pastry bag fitted with a star tip. Cut the strawberries in half lengthwise and remove the stems.
- Assemble Kabobs: Start by threading a glazed donut hole onto a skewer, pipe frosting underneath it, then add a strawberry half. Alternate three donut holes and three strawberries with frosting on the skewer, as desired. Lay assembled skewers on a parchment-lined cookie sheet.
- Drizzle White Chocolate: Melt the white chocolate in the microwave until smooth. Drizzle it spoonfully over each skewer for an extra touch of sweetness.
- Add Sprinkles: Immediately sprinkle the red, white, and blue sprinkle mix over the melting white chocolate so it adheres well.
- Chill Before Serving: Place the finished kabobs back in the refrigerator until ready to serve. Enjoy your festive treat!
Notes
- Ensure strawberries are fully dry before assembling to prevent sogginess.
- Use toothpicks or skewers sturdy enough to hold the weight of the donut holes and strawberries.
- The glaze should be thick enough to coat but not too runny; adjust powdered sugar or creamer as needed.
- For a stronger blue color, add food coloring gradually to avoid over-darkening.
- These kabobs are best served the day of preparation for freshness.
- You can substitute cream cheese frosting with vanilla or buttercream frosting if preferred.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator covered to maintain freshness.
