Ingredients
Scale
Gelatin Mixture
- 1 (3 oz) box JELL-O island pineapple gelatin
- 1 cup pineapple juice
- 1 cup Malibu Rum, chilled
Garnish (Optional)
- Fresh pineapple wedges
- Maraschino cherries
Instructions
- Prepare Cups: Lay the 12 jello shot cups out on a cookie sheet and set aside to make pouring and cooling easier.
- Heat Pineapple Juice: Pour the pineapple juice into a medium saucepan and warm it over medium heat for about 5 minutes until hot but not boiling, then remove from heat.
- Dissolve Gelatin: Empty the pineapple gelatin powder into a medium mixing bowl. Gradually whisk in the hot pineapple juice until the gelatin is fully dissolved.
- Add Rum: Stir in the chilled Malibu rum until the mixture is well combined.
- Fill Cups: Carefully pour the gelatin mixture into the jello shot cups, filling each almost to the rim. Place the cups back on the cookie sheet for stability.
- Chill Until Set: Refrigerate the cups overnight or for at least 4 hours to allow the gelatin to fully set. Once set, cover with lids if available.
- Garnish: Just before serving, add a fresh pineapple wedge and a maraschino cherry to each jello shot for an appealing presentation.
- Serve and Enjoy: Serve chilled and enjoy these tropical, adult-friendly jello treats!
Notes
- Do not let the pineapple juice boil when heating to preserve flavor and gelatin setting properties.
- Ensure Malibu rum is chilled before mixing to help the gelatin set properly.
- If you prefer non-alcoholic shots, substitute rum with additional pineapple juice.
- Use sturdy plastic or silicone shot cups for easy serving and cleanup.
- Store jello shots in the refrigerator covered to maintain freshness.
