Description

A quick and flavorful seafood dish featuring pan-seared salmon fillets and sautéed shrimp cooked in a buttery garlic sauce with a fresh hint of lemon and parsley, perfect for a healthy, satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Seafood

  • 2 salmon fillets (about 6 oz each)
  • 8 oz large shrimp, peeled and deveined

Seasonings and Other Ingredients

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Ingredients: Rinse the salmon fillets under cold water and pat them dry thoroughly with paper towels. Peel and devein the shrimp if not already done, ensuring they are ready to cook.
  2. Melt Butter and Sauté Garlic: Heat a skillet over medium heat and add the unsalted butter. Once melted, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant but not browned to release the flavors.
  3. Cook Shrimp: Add the peeled and deveined shrimp to the skillet. Season with salt and pepper, and optionally a pinch of cayenne pepper for heat. Cook the shrimp until they turn pink and opaque, about 3 to 4 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Sear Salmon: Place the salmon fillets skin-side down in the same skillet. Season both sides with salt and pepper. Cook the salmon undisturbed for 5 to 6 minutes until the skin is golden brown and crisp.
  5. Simmer and Finish Cooking: Squeeze the fresh lemon juice over the salmon and shrimp, then cover or reduce heat slightly and let simmer for another 2 to 3 minutes until the salmon flakes easily with a fork.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley over the seafood before serving. Serve the salmon and shrimp hot alongside rice or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.

Notes

  • Do not overcrowd the skillet to ensure even cooking and proper searing of the salmon.
  • If you prefer a spicier dish, increase the cayenne pepper or add red pepper flakes.
  • Use fresh lemon juice for best flavor; bottled lemon juice can be used in a pinch but may alter taste slightly.
  • Ensure shrimp are fully cooked by checking they are opaque and pink throughout.
  • Serve immediately for optimal texture and flavor.
