Description

This Spicy Crab Rangoon Melt is a delicious twist on the classic crab rangoon, featuring a creamy, spicy crab filling melted with mozzarella cheese between buttery grilled bread slices. Perfect for a quick lunch or a satisfying snack, these sandwiches combine the flavors of seafood, spice, and melted cheese in a crispy golden crust.

Ingredients

Scale

Crab Rangoon Filling

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup cooked crab meat, shredded
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp sriracha sauce (or to taste)
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 cup green onions, finely chopped

Sandwich Assembly

  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 4 slices of bread (preferably sourdough or white)
  • Butter (for spreading on bread)
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the filling: In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded crab meat, mayonnaise, sriracha sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, and finely chopped green onions. Stir thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  2. Preheat skillet: Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. While it heats, butter one side of each slice of bread evenly to ensure a golden crispy crust when grilled.
  3. Assemble sandwiches: Spread a generous amount of the crab mixture on the unbuttered side of two slices of bread. Evenly sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the crab filling.
  4. Complete sandwiches: Place the remaining two slices of bread on top of the filled slices with the buttered side facing out, forming two complete sandwiches.
  5. Grill the sandwiches: Place the assembled sandwiches in the hot skillet. Cook for about 3 to 4 minutes on each side or until the bread turns a golden brown and crispy, and the cheese has melted inside.
  6. Serve: Remove the sandwiches from the skillet and slice them diagonally. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley if desired. Serve hot and enjoy your Spicy Crab Rangoon Melt!

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of sriracha sauce to control the level of spiciness according to your preference.
  • Use good quality bread like sourdough for the best texture and flavor.
  • Make sure the cream cheese is softened to make mixing easier.
  • For a gluten-free version, substitute the bread with gluten-free bread.
  • Leftover crab mixture can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
