Scale
Fruit
- 1 pound strawberries (hulled & sliced)
- 1/2 seedless watermelon (cubed)
Herbs
- 6 mint leaves (thinly sliced)
- 3 basil leaves (thinly sliced)
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley (finely chopped)
Vinaigrette
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1 teaspoon lime zest
- 1/4 cup fresh squeezed lime juice
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Prepare the watermelon: Cut the watermelon into bite-sized pieces and place them in a large mixing bowl to form the base of the salad.
- Add strawberries: Hull and slice the strawberries, then add them to the watermelon in the mixing bowl to combine the two fruits.
- Add fresh herbs: Thinly slice the mint and basil leaves and sprinkle them over the fruit mixture for a fresh, aromatic touch.
- Make the vinaigrette: In a small bowl, mix together the honey, lime zest, lime juice, and sea salt to create the base of the dressing.
- Incorporate olive oil: Gradually whisk in the olive oil with the honey-lime mixture until the vinaigrette becomes smooth and emulsified.
- Toss salad with vinaigrette: Drizzle half of the vinaigrette over the fruit and herb mixture, then gently toss to ensure even coating without bruising the fruit.
- Serve or chill: Serve the salad immediately or chill it in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and intensify before serving.
Notes
- Chilling the salad for 30 minutes enhances the flavor absorption of the vinaigrette.
- Use fresh, ripe strawberries and seedless watermelon for the best taste and texture.
- This salad is best served fresh due to the high water content of the fruits.
- Adjust honey quantity in the vinaigrette to your preferred sweetness level.
- The salad can be garnished with extra mint or basil leaves for presentation.
