Ingredients
Scale
Steak and Marinade
- 1 lb sirloin steak, cubed
- Salt & black pepper, to taste
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp cornstarch (optional for extra tenderness)
Sauce
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 tbsp sriracha
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
- 2 tbsp water
Pasta and Garnish
- 8 oz spaghetti
- Salt for boiling
- 2 tbsp butter
- Toasted sesame seeds
- Chopped parsley or green onions
- Extra red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Prep the Pasta: Boil the spaghetti in salted water until al dente, usually around 8–10 minutes. Drain well, then toss with 2 tablespoons of butter to keep it moist and flavorful. Set aside.
- Marinate the Steak: In a bowl, combine the cubed sirloin steak with 1 tablespoon soy sauce, 1 tablespoon olive oil, 1 teaspoon cornstarch (if using), salt, and black pepper to taste. Let it marinate for 10 to 15 minutes to absorb the flavors and tenderize.
- Cook the Steak: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and sear the marinated steak cubes until they are nicely browned and cooked to your preferred doneness, about 4–6 minutes. Remove steak from the skillet and set aside.
- Make the Sauce: In the same skillet, add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 30 seconds to 1 minute. Add 3 tablespoons soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, sriracha, rice vinegar, sesame oil, crushed red pepper flakes, and 2 tablespoons water. Stir well and simmer the sauce until slightly thickened, about 3–5 minutes.
- Combine: Return the cooked steak to the skillet with the sauce. Add the buttered spaghetti and toss everything together to ensure the pasta and steak are evenly coated and heated through.
- Serve: Plate the pasta and steak mixture. Garnish with toasted sesame seeds, chopped parsley or green onions, and additional red pepper flakes if desired for extra heat.
Notes
- For extra tenderness, marinate steak with cornstarch.
- Adjust sriracha and red pepper flakes to control the spice level.
- Using sirloin steak keeps the meat tender and flavorful.
- Butter tossed in pasta helps prevent sticking and adds richness.
- Toasted sesame seeds add a nice nuttiness and texture.
- Use fresh parsley or green onions to add a fresh, bright flavor at the end.
