Ingredients

Scale

Steak and Marinade

  • 1 lb sirloin steak, cubed
  • Salt & black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp cornstarch (optional for extra tenderness)

Sauce

  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp sriracha
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • 2 tbsp water

Pasta and Garnish

  • 8 oz spaghetti
  • Salt for boiling
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Toasted sesame seeds
  • Chopped parsley or green onions
  • Extra red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep the Pasta: Boil the spaghetti in salted water until al dente, usually around 8–10 minutes. Drain well, then toss with 2 tablespoons of butter to keep it moist and flavorful. Set aside.
  2. Marinate the Steak: In a bowl, combine the cubed sirloin steak with 1 tablespoon soy sauce, 1 tablespoon olive oil, 1 teaspoon cornstarch (if using), salt, and black pepper to taste. Let it marinate for 10 to 15 minutes to absorb the flavors and tenderize.
  3. Cook the Steak: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and sear the marinated steak cubes until they are nicely browned and cooked to your preferred doneness, about 4–6 minutes. Remove steak from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Make the Sauce: In the same skillet, add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 30 seconds to 1 minute. Add 3 tablespoons soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, sriracha, rice vinegar, sesame oil, crushed red pepper flakes, and 2 tablespoons water. Stir well and simmer the sauce until slightly thickened, about 3–5 minutes.
  5. Combine: Return the cooked steak to the skillet with the sauce. Add the buttered spaghetti and toss everything together to ensure the pasta and steak are evenly coated and heated through.
  6. Serve: Plate the pasta and steak mixture. Garnish with toasted sesame seeds, chopped parsley or green onions, and additional red pepper flakes if desired for extra heat.

Notes

  • For extra tenderness, marinate steak with cornstarch.
  • Adjust sriracha and red pepper flakes to control the spice level.
  • Using sirloin steak keeps the meat tender and flavorful.
  • Butter tossed in pasta helps prevent sticking and adds richness.
  • Toasted sesame seeds add a nice nuttiness and texture.
  • Use fresh parsley or green onions to add a fresh, bright flavor at the end.
