Description

A refreshing and elegant Vodka Strawberry Cocktail that combines muddled fresh strawberries and basil with vodka, elderflower liqueur, lemon juice, and simple syrup, topped with sparkling Prosecco for a bubbly finish. Perfectly balanced and fruity, this cocktail makes a delightful drink for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Fruit and Herbs

  • 4 strawberries, greens removed
  • 6 basil leaves

Liquids

  • 2 ounces vodka
  • ½ ounce elderflower liqueur
  • ¾ ounce simple syrup
  • ½ ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 ½ ounces Prosecco or other sparkling wine

Instructions

  1. Muddle Strawberries: Place the strawberries into a cocktail shaker and gently muddle them to release their juices and flavor.
  2. Add Basil: Add the basil leaves to the shaker and gently muddle again to mix with the strawberries without tearing the leaves too much.
  3. Add Liquids and Ice: Pour in the vodka, elderflower liqueur, lemon juice, and simple syrup. Then add ice to fill the shaker.
  4. Shake Cocktail: Cover the shaker and shake vigorously for at least 30 seconds to chill and blend all ingredients well.
  5. Strain and Serve: Strain the cocktail mixture into a lowball glass filled with ice.
  6. Top with Prosecco: Pour 1 ½ ounces of Prosecco over the cocktail in the glass and gently stir to combine.
  7. Garnish: Garnish with a fresh strawberry and/or basil leaves as desired for an elegant finish.

Notes

  • For best flavor, use ripe, fresh strawberries and fresh basil leaves.
  • Adjust simple syrup quantity to taste depending on the sweetness of your strawberries.
  • If elderflower liqueur is unavailable, a similar floral liqueur can be substituted.
  • Use chilled Prosecco to keep the cocktail cold and bubbly.
  • Serve immediately to preserve the fizz of the sparkling wine.
